Operation Stork to the rescue

Operation Stork meetings are fun, delicious and inspiring!

Our next meeting will be in September.  We look forward to a tremendous ingathering of handknit and handsewn articles of clothing for the newborns. We are always happy to see each other after our summer hiatus.

If you have time this summer and would like to contribute, we need blankets, sweaters, booties, hats, etc.  Watch here for the date of our first meeting.

UTO:  Thank you, God

- from Lisbeth Eichner, UTO shepherd and cheerleader

 “Today I’m thankful for…”

These words are at the heart of the United Thank Offering. As you fill in the blank with all the things you are thankful for, and put a coin in your “blue box” for each one, remember that this is an exercise of prayer, thanksgiving, and generosity.  They can be important things in our lives, minor things, or anything in between.  The important point is that we take the time to recognize our blessings every day, in good times and in bad.
If you do not have an UTO box, you can pick one up (unassembled!) outside the Sanctuary or ask me for one.  Please ask me about UTO if you have any questions.

Next ingathering will be in the Fall.

Two Diocesan mission trips scheduled this fall
- from Lila Mumper
Sept. 18-25: Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky, in western Appalachia; 5 volunteers needed
Nov. 12-21: New Orleans; 4 volunteers needed

If you are interested in either of these trips, contact Terry Dorcy at djdorcy@aol.com, or call (269) 349-3625. If you would like to volunteer but can’t afford it, talk to Ralph or Lila Mumper about possible financial assistance from our Reach-out fund.

Pet food needed for Kibble Konnection
- from Lisbeth Eichner
This month we will again collect dog and cat food, and cat litter, for Kibble Konnection, the Pet Food Bank of the Humane Society of Kent County.  Kibble Konnection provides pet food to pet-owners who are experiencing financial difficulties.  This program helps people keep their pets rather than turn them over to animal shelters because they cannot care for them.  Hopefully, it also enables people who have chosen to skip meals of their own in order to feed their pets to eat the meals they would have skipped.  Those who qualify for assistance receive a six-month membership and food for one to five pets.
Please bring in dog and cat food, and cat litter, from now through Sunday, October 3 and put it in the boxes marked Kibble Konnection on the table at the back of St. Michael’s Hall. Both dry food and moist food are appreciated, and open boxes and bags of dry food are welcome. Thank you!
On Sunday, October 3, we will celebrate St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, with a special pet blessing service during which Father David will bless our contributions.

Prayer requests?
-from Lila Mumper

Do you have a need for prayer, or know someone that does?  Please write their /your name on the prayer list in the entry area of the church and please keep it updated so that those who pray will know how best to pray for those who are listed.

Call me at 455-4642 if you or someone you know are going to be in the hospital or unable to get to church for awhile, and might like to have a Lay Eucharistic Visitor bring them communion.  We are here to share the love of Christ with you. Please help us to do that.

Please continue to pray for our beloved-and-very-much-missed shut-ins:

Aloha Burch                                Don Burton                                       John Dahlman
Carol

We who are many are one body, because we all share one bread, one cup

Lay Eucharistic Visitors are at your service

Please call or email Lila Mumper if you or someone you know cannot
attend church and would like to receive Holy Communion.
