Christian Formation, a never-ending adventure

Classes for our pre-school through 5th grade children meet during the school year on Sunday   mornings at 9:45 downstairs in our Undercroft for music, prayers, and lessons. Last year, leaders
Gwen Hendrickson and Kim Lum taught them about the Church Year and the articles used in the Eucharist. Gwen and Donna Hinman then taught them about kinds of prayer and worked with them on singing.  The children performed twice for the adults  during 10:00 services.

Christian Formation Fall Curriculum
-from Genia Brown:

The program “Weaving God’s Promises” for ages 3 – 11, written by an Episcopal priest, will be used.   It includes a crafts/activities component.

We are now looking for teachers for this program – need 2 downstairs every Sunday. Would like commitment for 4 Sundays in a row to provide continuity. Ideally we need 3 teachers 1 for each age group and 1 to help each teacher. Can you help us?  Please contact Genia.

Our Journey to Adulthood (J2A) kids

The Journey to Adulthood group has completed their Pilgrimage to England. They left on June 17 and returned on July 2.  They, from what I hear, pretty well met their schedule.  They also added some extras.  They were caught on video during the Stonehenge Summer Solstice celebration (web address to be added soon), were made part of the service at Glastonbury Abbey, and were mentioned in the Evensong prayers at Canterbury Cathedral.

They expected to visit the following sites:

The Eye of London            Buckingham Palace         Westminster Abbey
Oxford                            Stonehenge                   Salisbury Cathedral
Bath Abbey                     Glastonbury Abbey          Lindesfarne
Edinburgh, Scotland          Canterbury Cathedral       Dover

I will report back as soon as I can do some interviewing.  (JG)

Book Group begins Sun. Sept. 10
Due to a delay in getting the book (ahem, Lynne), Three Cups of Tea, the Holy Cross Book Group will begin meeting after Labor Day weekend, in the library (wherever it is), at 9 a.m. Have you read the book?
